Impala with snare treated at Tsavo

While at Tsavo there was not much veterinary work the days I was there so I enjoyed the beauty of this paradise. On the last morning of my visit we drove out of the veterinary office and spotted this Impala that was trailing a snare. This must have just happened the night before as it had not yet cut in to the skin. We sedated him, removed the snare and administered antibiotics and Antiinflamatories. Reversal was almost immediate and he almost ran me over. The entire procedure took less than 20 minutes.
